Therapeutic Approaches
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
CBT focuses on the relationship between unhelpful thought patterns, behaviors, emotions, and physiological symptoms. CBT is helpful for anxiety, depression, grief, mood changes, substance use, and trauma responses.
Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT)
TF-CBT is helpful for children, adolescents, and teens to process traumatic experiences and move towards healing.
Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT)
DBT focuses on coping skills including mindfulness, interpersonal skills, distress tolerance (intense emotions), and emotional regulation. DBT is helpful for everyone, and also for anxiety, depression, grief, mood changes, self-harming behavior, substance use, and trauma responses.
Harm Reduction
I use a harm reduction approach with substance use, meeting you where you are without judgement.
Mindfulness
Learning and practicing mindfulness skills helps us to be in the present moment instead of thinking about the past or future. Mindfulness is helpful for anxiety, depression, grief, mood changes, substance use, and trauma responses.
Animal Assisted Therapy
I invite your pets to join us during sessions! Participating in animal assisted therapy has been shown to reduce physiological and psychological signs of distress such as heart rate, blood pressure, anxiety, and stress.
